Brookhaven City Council to discuss major development of Corporate Square
Brookhaven City Council members are scheduled to hear next week from Third and Urban about the phased expansion of Corporate Square a project to convert the -acre office park into housing retail and restaurants A project years in the making Third and Urban is now under contract on the land for an undisclosed amount The office park sits on the I- southbound side at the North Druid Hills Road exit The current site consists of eight office buildings and accessory buildings totaling approximately square feet The mixed-use advance proposal for Corporate Square would encompass housing units hotel rooms and square feet of retail However the city s Buford Highway Activity Nodes Master Plan calls for more housing fewer hotel rooms and almost double the proposed retail space than the plan offered by Third and Urban The city s zoning ordinance requires all new developments to reserve at least percent of the dwelling units as workforce housing According to the plan Third and Urban revealed a housing research shows that at full improvement DeKalb County schools estimates the project will generate students A sewer ceiling analysis must be submitted to DeKalb County Watershed Management prior to the land disturbance permit process The Brookhaven Planning Commission who heard the presentation in February is recommending the city council vote to approve rezoning from M Industrial and O-I Office-Institution to MPD Master Planned Rise to allow for a mixed-use maturation as well as approve variances to increase curb cuts widen streetscapes and add open spaces Planning Commission members recommended an amendment to the plan include three types of units and change the plan so that at least percent of the townhomes have fewer than four bedrooms A vote will take place on Tuesday April at p m at Brookhaven City Hall The post Brookhaven City Council to discuss major expansion of Corporate Square appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
